South University is a private university located on 5 campuses in the Southeast. Campuses are located in Savannah , Georgia ; Montgomery , Alabama ; Tampa and West Palm Beach , Florida and Columbia , South Carolina .

Associate, Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degrees are offered in business, technology, law, medicine and the arts. Classes are small with an average student to teacher ratio of 16:1. Some bachelors degrees are even available online in their entirety. Accelerated learning programs are available. Classes are offered as a 10 or 12-week quarter. Summer courses are available. Double majors and internships are also available.

South’s many different degree levels and programs are reflected in the diverse student bodies. Founded in 1899 as a college of the practical arts, South University has grown to offer a wide variety of degrees focusing on useful trades.

South University campuses provide medical and computer labs, wireless technology and modern classrooms. Each campus has a scholarly library and students have online access to all five. Career and academic counseling is available in addition to career and placement services. Additional undergraduate classes are offered in mornings and evenings. Remedial instruction and tutoring is available.

Financial aid is made available to students from many sources. Career counselors are available every step of the way to help you take advantage of every possible source of aid whether you’re on campus or online. Some of their sources include:

Federal Pell Grant Program -- A grant program for undergraduate students with financial need.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Program -- A Campus-Based Program providing grant assistance to needy undergraduate students. Priority is given to students who have exceptional financial need and are Federal Pell grant recipients.

Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program -- A campus-based, federally funded program that provides paid jobs for students with financial need.

Federal Perkins Loan Program - This campus-based loan program provides low-interest loans to students with financial need.

Federal Direct Loan Program -- A federal program in which the U.S. government provides loans to student and parent borrowers directly through schools.

Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program -- A federal loan program where commercial lenders loan to student and parent borrowers at reduced rates.

Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (LEAP) Program -- A Title IV gift-aid program, this state and federal program awards scholarship or grant money to students demonstrating financial need.

Information on the many private scholarship opportunities is available from admissions counselors.

The yearly tuition varies greatly depending upon program, however to get exact figures, prospective students should contact the campus Admissions Office. Room and board also varies greatly by campus.

Through South’s open admissions policy to most programs, 84% of applying students were accepted in 2004. Most applicants opted to submit ACT results with their applications. Transfer credits are accepted. Application fees are $25 for students living in state (of whichever campus applied to), $50 for prospective out-state students and $75 for international applications. English proficiency must be demonstrated for students who graduated a secondary school where other languages were primary for instruction.
